In 2002 the National Association of REALTORS® started a Resort Real Estate Committee. The purpose of this committee is to provide the RESORT practitioner with the knowledge & skills necessary to provide the special attention to the resort purchaser. Among the knowledge required is a working knowledge of international tax law, knowledge of 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges and other related topics.
Ken Libby of Stowe Realty was chosen to be one of 42 REALTORS® nationally to serve on this committee. He attended the 1st RESORT Real Estate Symposium in Los Cabos San Lucas, Mexico in February of 2003 and in November of 2003, he attended the first two day training for the RESORT real estate specialist in San Francisco. Ken was the first broker in Vermont to take this training.
Since the inception of the Resort & Second Homes Properties (RSPS) program the number of REALTORS® world wide has grown to over 300,000. In 2011 Ken became associated with AREA, Americas Real Estate Association, which is a referral based association of Resort Real Estate Agents in many countries and throughout the USA.
Numerous benefits are available to sellers & buyers by Ken’s attendance in these forums. Most significant is the many hundreds of contacts around the world that he have made with other REALTORS® to whom he can refer you if you have an interest in another region of the resort world.
